Fancy travelling down the memory lanes in Ipoh? Commander Ian Anderson would bring you through the tourist trails of Old Ipoh, to allow you to relive the good old glorious Ipoh.

The speaker will guide the audience along the first published tourist trails of Ipoh in 1914, continuing with a look at the differences created by development in the trail of 1921. The lecture will conclude with a look at the development of today’s Old Town Heritage Trail.

About The Speakers

Commander Ian Anderson
Commander Ian Anderson, born in April 1939, was educated at Wimbledon College prior to joining the Royal Navy as an Artificer Apprentice.

After a successful career spanning over 30 years, he retired as a Commander and joined the ship building industry as a warship Project Manager which led to him being deployed to Malaysia in 1990 to manage a joint British / Malaysian MOU Defence Project here. This, in turn, led to him being appointed CEO of the British company from which he retired in 2000.

In the same year he moved to Ipoh and married his Malaysian Chinese wife. In the same year, he found his own company with the core business of supplying recreational boats. 2004 saw the start of a second company, Ipoh World Sdn Bhd, funded by Kinta Properties as a not-for-profit Heritage organization based on education.

Not only that the Commander is an accomplished author and lecturer, he is also contracted to Universiti Teknologi Petronas as an adjunct lecturer.
